The Smile of Uncle Khaled
A tribute to a man I love for the sake of Allah, Khaled Nabhan. May Allah have mercy on him, accept him as a martyr, fill his grave with nur and reunite with all his offspring in Jannah Firdaus ameen
This poem is my dua for him because only Allah swt has knowledge of the unseen realm and Allah knows best.
You’re absolutely right; “the soul of his soul” needs to be clearer and more meaningful in the context. Here’s a revised version that maintains emotional depth while better conveying the bond with his granddaughter:
The Smile of Uncle Khaled When Khaled fell, the martyr’s light, it shone, A face that beamed, though life had flown. His granddaughter’s laughter, a cherished thread, A love eternal, though both have left. The shroud embraced him, the scent of musk. His smile bore witness in the silent dusk. Oh, tranquil soul, returned to his Lord, A life well lived, a martyr’s reward. The angels descended with shrouds from above, Welcoming Khaled with mercy and love. The clouds have parted; the truth is clear, The promise of Allah is ever near. No tears suffice for the loss we feel, Yet joy remains, for his fate is sealed. But only Allah knows his eternal state, We pray he enters through Jannah’s gate. With his granddaughter, a bond so tight, Reunited now in Allah’s perfect light. The Prophet foretold of such a day, When smiles would brighten the judgment’s way. Oh, Khaled, a name etched deep in the heart, ♥️ From this world of pain, you did depart. Your face is an ayah, a sign so true, A gift from Allah for the righteous few. Oh Allah, unite him with the best of the best, Grant his soul eternal rest. Our tears fall heavy, yet hope shines bright, For Khaled now journeys in Your light.
