﷽
I am working on a longer piece for next week’s newsletter, so I have made this one shorter. However, hopefully, it will be no less impactful.
Why Aren’t You a Friend of Allah swt?
I have been contemplating what it means to be a wali (friend of Allah):
A Wali of Allah isn’t someone distant or unreachable. Allah tells us exactly who His Awliyaa’ are:
It’s not about perfection. It’s about belief. Consciousness. A heart that wants to return again and again. And doing those acts of worship that a wali of Allah does with a sincere heart.
So I’ve been asking myself:
Why do we settle for less than that?
Why do we let ourselves get ahead of what Allah has already opened for us?
Why do we cling to habits, distractions, old wounds, or even outdated versions of ourselves, when Allah is offering us wilaayah… His special nearness, protection, and love?
Sometimes we act like we’re not worthy of being close to Him. Or like we’ll get to it one day. But what if that day is today? What if it’s always been today?
If you lived today as you are a wali of Allah:
What would you stop doing?
And what would I finally start?
And what would you do more of?
I’d love to hear from you.
What’s one moment when you felt close to Allah and knew He was guiding or protecting you?
Reply and share it with me. Your reflection might be exactly what someone else needs to read.
I read every message and keep you in my du’a.
Next week, I’ll share a longer piece insha’Allah. It will include sneak peek into my book, which has taken on a beautiful new form. I can’t wait to show you, insha’Allah.
